Hoard of the Dragon Queen
I was born Tethyrian, but reborn a beast. As a boy I was kidnapped during a raid on my village by mercenaries looking to make a few gold from the backs of weary peasants turned slaves. During transport to the coast of the Inner Sea, the slavers showed me the darkest side of humanity, a rotting evil that festers in all. As I was about to abandon my mind and all hope for any, an unknown group saved me. They were a mixture of races on an unrelated mission, but when they saw the plight of the downtrodden shackled slaves to be, the group showed me the greatest side of humanity. With an unrestrained sense of justice the unknown group slew through every mercenary. Fire shone in their eyes as they handed judgement to the immoral. When the fighting was finished, they offered to escort me to a nearby town, where I could have the chance for survival in an orphanage. I declined. The ordeal had solidified an iron core of distrust in everyone. I ran west, with no thought of my destination, for as long as my beleaguered legs could carry me. Finally, I reached a place where I felt a sort of serenity. The Snakewood Forrest, near the village of Greenest, had ensnared me with its beauty. It offered solitude, in which, I contemplated the evils and good of man. I grew up weathered by storms and with the inherent neutrality of life and death the wild brings. My contemplation had come to an end many years later, when I decided I had been selfish to retreat from the world of man. No child should ever see the evils I had, and I would make every effort to ensure the protection of as many as I could. I had heard of an organization known simply as The Order of the Gauntlet. Their mission seemed to be a noble one, so I decided to enlist my help. Due to the skills I acquired in the forest they decided the occupation of spy was most suited for me. After many mission of espionage where I had learned techniques not unlike that of a criminal, such as the mastery of thieves’ tools, I was to be sent back to the village of Greenest. Intelligence gathered by The Order of the Gauntlet suggested a possible attack on the village. Mine was a simple mission. All I had to do was pose as a common guard and estimate the fighting strength of its militia. The Order saw no reason to frighten the village, for the intelligence that had been gathered had no solid standing. So here I sit.
